The Cocoa Police Department arrested a man Thursday morning after he set fire inside an apartment he lived in with his girlfriend after a dispute.

Melchizedek Seal, 47, was arrested on attempted murder and arson charges.

Seal, who allegedly broke into his girlfriend's apartment, had allegedly been arguing with the her. He then punched out a window air conditioning unit, police say.

After the victim fled to a nearby apartment to call her help, Seal reportedly set a mattress on fire before he left. He was detained by officers as he was exiting the apartment.

When the victim tried opening the door to the apartment, smoke began pouring out, according to a news release.

Police say they immediately evacuated the building, including a pregnant woman who lived directly above the burning apartment.

Seal was arrested on an occupied arson charge and two counts of attempted murder for reportedly putting the life of a pregnant woman in danger.

No one was injured.
