A Fort McCoy driver is dead after driving off NE 170 Avenue Road on Monday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

  • Rodney Edward Booth's vehicle crashed into trees, FHP says
  • Booth was not wearing a seatbelt, FHP stated.

At around 5:30 p.m., Rodney Edward Booth was driving his 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee on the southbound of the road when for some reason he traveled off the right shoulder and collided into "several small trees" before his vehicle overturned, the FHP described.

The 48-year-old driver was thrown from the Grand Cherokee where he died at the scene, according to FHP.

The FHP stated that Booth did not wear a seatbelt and the investigation is ongoing.
