Police investigate death of woman outside Cocoa 7-Eleven

Cocoa Police are investigating the death of a 39-year-old woman who was found unresponsive outside a 7-Eleven Sunday afternoon.

A man called 911 at about 3:30 p.m. to report that his girlfriend was not breathing, authorities said. He told dispatchers he was driving her to the hospital when he stopped to call for help.

Officers and paramedics responded to the parking lot of the convenience store on Dixon Boulevard.

Paramedics attempted to revive the woman, but she was pronounced dead at the scene, public information officer Yvonne Martinez said.

The area around the store’s parking lot was being processed as a potential crime scene.

“At this time, detectives are conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death and if any foul play could have been involved,” Martinez said.

The identities of the woman and her boyfriend have not yet been released.
