We will continue to have a pleasant overnight with partly cloudy skies and temperatures in the mid 70s. Tomorrow we will climb into the upper 80s and low 90s inland with a chance for showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon.
Rain chances will go up for our Friday as moisture spreads in Florida's direction, making it more favorable for scattered showers and thunderstorms. Cloud cover will keep temperatures down slightly in the mid to upper 80s with some areas in the low 90s inland.
In the tropics, there is still some monitoring of Jose and Maria, although neither will have a direct impact on Florida. Tropical Storm Jose, located southeast of Nantucket, is sending outer rain bands toward southern New England. Rain and wind are anticipated — mostly for Cape Cod and the islands.
Hurricane Maria is near the eastern tip of the Dominican Republic, moving northwest. It is still expected to curve north and say well east of Florida, but it is still something to keep an eye on.
Regardless of how far away the storm is, it will have an impact on Florida's coastline with rough surf and higher swells this weekend. The 2017 Atlantic hurricane season runs through Nov. 30. It's always best to be prepared.

With Maria moving to the northeast a few hundred miles off our coast into the weekend, we can expect boating conditions to become less favorable. However, surfing conditions will be improved due to another round of high surf associated with Maria's large swells.
Rip current risks will increase, so it’s always safe to be near a lifeguard and pay attention to the flags along the beaches.
