Patrick Air Force Base airmen who helped save lives in hurricane recovery efforts were thanked in person by top brass from Washington on Wednesday.

Under Secretary of the Air Force Matthew Donovan and Vice Chief of Staff of the Air Force Gen. Stephen Wilson visited with a hundred members of the 920th Rescue Wing at Patrick Air Force Base in Brevard County.

Many of the airmen flew to Texas and helped in Hurricane Harvey recovery efforts.

"You take care of lots of people, rescue lots of people. Just the impact you have on the community is phenomenal," Wilson said.

Donovan and Wilson also asked the airmen to thank their families for supporting them as they worked to help people in need.
