Lake County Animal Services is trying to find homes for dozens of dogs, including some 125 dogs taken in after Irma.

  • Lake County Animal Services at critical capacity
  • Has 210 dogs right now, including dozens after the storm
  • Many people are surrendering their pets as their homes are unlivable

The shelter says its at critical capacity and is calling on rescues, fosters and adopters to help relieve the load.

The shelter says some residents are bringing pets to the shelter as they deal with unlivable homes and no way to care for the animals.

The shelter is currently housing 210 dogs alone, including Aubrey, a dog that gave birth recently.

Head to the Lake County Animal Services website to see dogs and cats in need of adoption. The shelter is located on County Road 561 in Tavares.

It costs $10 to adopt a dog or a cat.
