People across the state of Florida are still dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Irma.

  • Titusville residents dealing with flooding
  • Windover Way neighborhood has knee-high water
  • Residents hope water recedes before they get more rain

Many remain without power, while others are dealing with massive flooding.

“You know, when Irma came in and left us with her wrath, it left us with more standing water than we’ve ever seen,” said Mary Kelly, a Titusville resident.

A week has passed since Irma hit Central Florida, but the Windover Way neighborhood in Titusville still has knee-high water surrounding homes.

Not to mention, residents have had two alligators removed and seen water moccasins swimming through their yards.

“We’re getting ready for possibly another hurricane, so we are hoping it recedes as much as possible because if we get more rain the house could possibly flood,” neighbor Frank Alessi said.

Residents said they don’t know what caused the flooding or if it could get worse with other storms forming in the Atlantic, but they still remain positive and thankful.

“We’ve been sitting here and watching the news and we see no more key west, no more islands, how hard Miami was hit, and how bad Texas still is,” Kelly said. “I’m blessed but I also want to be able to leave my home, and know that I’ll have a home to come back to after these next couple of storms.”
