Deputies responded at about 8:30 a.m. to an armed disturbance at 3198 Cherokee Drive.

When deputies arrived, they discovered Rodger Lingo dead within the property. A second man, identified as 75-year-old Benton Clark, was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He's listed in stable condition.

Capt. Jacob Ruiz, a spokesman with the Osceola County Sheriff's Office, said the entire disturbance began with threatening phone calls. Lingo's wife knew Clark, deputies said.

Deputies said Clark crashed through the gate on the property Friday morning before gunfire broke out.

Deputies said they are planning to charge Clark with first-degree murder in Lingo's death.

The investigation is ongoing.

"This is an active scene and detectives and crime scene investigators are on scene," Ruiz said. "This is an isolated incident and detectives are currently not actively seeking any additional persons."
