Here's the Central Florida weather forecast for the overnight hours and the weekend ahead:

  • Warm and muggy overnight
  • Weekend highs in the 90s
  • Chance for isolated afternoon storms
  • TROPICS: Tracking 3 potential systems in the Atlantic

We will continue to have a warm and muggy overnight with temperatures falling back to the mid 70s. Saturday we will warm back up to the mid 90s with a chance for isolated showers and thunderstorms inland during the afternoon.

The tropics are beginning to heat back up. There are three systems we are monitoring in the Atlantic Ocean.

The first is Jose, which is not expected to impact Central Florida over the next few days, but we will see strong swell in the near-shore waters. That's good news for the surfers.

The second system is southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands and is the fourteenth tropical depression of the season. The track moves west-northwest through the Atlantic over the next several days before curling north and staying out at sea. At this point, it’s something to watch, but not at all a concern for Florida.

The third is a cluster of showers and storms associated with a tropical wave 1,100 miles east of the Windward Islands which became better organized over the last two days. Environmental conditions are becoming more conducive for the development of a tropical cyclone over this weekend. With this in mind, tropical storm watches could be issued for portions of the Lesser Antilles Saturday.

The Atlantic hurricane season runs through Nov. 30.

Boating conditions will be favorable with a moderate chop along the intracoastal tomorrow. Isolated afternoon storms however could poze a hazard. Surfers should be happy about the long period swells as a result of Hurricane Jose making wave heights in the nearshore waters at 5-7 feet. Remember to stay near a lifeguard and don't forget the sunscreen with the elevated UV indices.
