Five people — two adults and three children — escaped the fire, but the 10-year-old was found inside the Ocklawaha home.

The toddler was taken to UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville and was last listed in stable condition.

The state fire marshal is investigating the fire, and Marion Sheriff's major crimes detectives are investigating the child's death.
