Rhett Fischer of Rusty's Seafood and Rich Hensel of Fishlips have the restaurant business in common.

Their establishments sit yards away from one another in the Cove area of Port Canaveral.

But, both share something else in common. Each restaurant was damaged in Hurricane Matthew last year.

"We had some damage here, we lost our dock and some of our decking," said Fischer.

"Unfortunately we had about half a million dollars in damage in Matthew," Hensel added.

The storm ripped through the area, causing lots of damage to their buildings. It's taken nearly a year for Fishlips to recover after Matthew, in fact, the last new pieces of the damaged deck were just put in Friday.

Fischer's mother had an idea: How about donate 5 percent of the busy Labor Day weekend sales to the Houston Food Bank?

He made some calls, and Rusty's Fishlips and nearby Grills got on board.

"We are here to help, and that's what we are going to do," Fischer said. "Brevard County, we always come together. We always have and always will."

"Our hearts go out, whatever we can do to help them," says Hensel.

Anyone who dines at any of the restaurants through Monday will get proof on their receipt they are helping Harvey victims.

The group is also collecting food and water.

Drop-off locations include the restaurants, plus the Cocoa Beach Chamber of Commerce in Merritt Island, and their other location in the Avenue in Viera.
