It's Labor Day weekend and that means we are all entitled to have a little fun. But before you head out there, make sure Mother Nature is going to play along.

There were widespread heavy showers and storms Friday evening. Our overnight will be warm and muggy with the chance for an isolated shower early, temperatures will fall in the mid to upper 70s by daybreak.

For your holiday weekend, we will have partly sunny skies to start out both days followed by widespread showers and storms during the afternoon and evening hours. Temperatures will climb into the mid to low 90s.

Hurricane Irma is the prime interest in the Atlantic at this time. Irma is a little less than 1,500 miles from the Leeward Islands, but it is expected to remain a major hurricane while it moves generally westward across the warm Atlantic waters.

The long-range track holds uncertainty due to difference in computer models, but there is support of this system making its way close to the United States by next week. Stay tuned for the latest in the Tropical Update at :51 past each hour.

Grab your board and get ready for some fun sized sets this weekend, as wave heights push up to stomach high. With the increase in wave action and some chop below, the rip current threat is forecast to stay moderate. Keep an eye on the lifeguard stand flags, and swim with friends. Lightning may impact beach plans, so when thunder roars, go indoors.
