The State Attorney's Office has filed new charges against a former Rockledge city councilman accused of shooting at a vehicle with a person inside.

  • Ralph McCoig accused of shooting at motorist amid property dispute
  • He's charged with 2 felonies, including shooting into occupied vehicle
  • McCoig formerly elected twice on Rockledge City Council

Ralph McCoig is facing felony charges of aggravated assault with a firearm and shooting into an occupied vehicle.

The charges stem from an incident investigated by the Rockledge Police Department, which says McCoig fired a bullet into the driver's side door of a truck at the intersection of Barton Avenue and Seminole Drive on June 13. Investigators said the real-estate agent and two-term Rockledge councilman opened fire on the driver, with whom he was having a property dispute.

Voters elected McCoig to the Rockledge city council in 1998 and 2002.

A trial date has not yet been set.
