We heated up quickly Wednesday afternoon with highs topping out slightly above average in the low to mid 90s. More importantly, the feels like temp climbed above 100 degrees. Our overnight will remain quiet, warm, and muggy with temperatures dropping into the mid 70s.

Thursday we can expect sunshine to start followed by another round of showers and storms in the afternoon with temperatures in the mid 90s once again.

A weak low will push across the Bahamas tonight, pulling in slightly drier air for a couple days. This low actually has a very low chance of gaining tropical characteristics. Rain chances lower to 30 percent Thursday and at 40 percent Friday.

Uncomfortable heat sticks around into the weekend.

In the tropics, Franklin continues churning toward eastern Mexico and will make landfall as a hurrricane overnight. This is no threat to the U.S. We have our eyes on another wave northeast of the Leeward Islands with a moderate chance of forming into something tropical.

Wave heights of only one to two feet and an east-southeast trade swell will combine to create poor surfing conditions. The current swell will produce a moderate risk of rip currents. We keep poor forecast conditions around through Friday, but may see some improvement in wave action with an approaching low well to our east by Sunday into early next week.
