It was a hot and humid Tuesday with scattered showers and storms. Our overnight will remain partly cloudy with temperatures falling to the mid 70s by daybreak.

Rain chances will remain at a 50 percent for Wednesday, with downpours and lightning as our main threats. Temperatures will climb to the low 90s feeling close to 100 degrees.

Our overnight will remain quiet, warm, and muggy with temps falling to the mid to upper 70s by daybreak.

A ridge axis to the north will produce southeasterly flow Wednesday, with drier mid level air working in within the onshore flow. These dynamics will help to reduce rain chances for much of the area, except from the I-4 corridor westward, where late day boundary collisions will contribute to shower and storm coverage.

Otherwise there will be a mix of sun and clouds. Highs will reach into the low to mid 90s.

We’re still monitoring Franklin as it moves into the Bay of Campeche, but this storm will have no impact on central Florida. There is another weak low in the Central Atlantic located about 700 miles east of the Lesser Antilles. This feature is showing a marginal chance of development in the next five days and will stay out over open waters for now. The next name on the list is Gert.

An easterly swell is set to stick around the next couple days, providing an overall moderate risk of rip currents. If you’re visiting the beaches, keep an eye on the life guard stand flags, and heed any water warnings. Surfing conditions stay poor with wave heights of one to two feet. Sea surface temps are in the upper 70s to lower 80s up and down our east coast. UV indices will remain elevated so be sure not to forget the sunscreen!
