Tropical Storm Franklin has grown stronger over the Bay of Campeche and is expected to cross Mexico again Wednesday night or early Thursday.

As of 11 p.m. ET Tuesday, the center of Franklin was about 250 miles northeast of Coatzacoalcos, Mexico, and 325 miles east-northeast of Veracruz.. Franklin's maximum sustained winds have increased to 50 mph as it continued its west-northwest track at 10 mph.

Franklin is expected to take a more westerly route over the next couple of days. The storm should continue over the Bay of Campeche, and then crossing Mexico at Veracruz Wednesday night or early Thursday.

A Hurricane Warning is in effect for the coast of Mexico from Puerto de Veracruz to Tuxpan.

A hurricane watch is in effect for the coast of Mexico from Tuxpan to Rio Panuco. A tropical storm warning is in effect for the coast of Mexico from Rio Lagartos to Sabancuy, as well as the coast of Mexico from Puerto de Veracruz to Rio Panuco. A tropical storm watch is in effect for the coast of Mexico from Sabancuy to Puerto de Veracruz.

This storm is projected to produce torrential rainfall and potentially life-threatening flash floods once it makes landfall. More than 4 to 8 inches of rain may fall with some areas receiving up to 1 foot of rain.

There is another weak low in the central Atlantic showing a marginal chance of development, but it will stay out over open waters. The next name on the list is Gert.
