People around the world on Thursday are commemorating 20 years since the death of Princess Diana.

  • Diana was killed in a high-speed chase in Paris
  • She was beloved and known as the People's Princess

Princes William and Harry honored their mother on Wednesday, one day before the anniversary of their mother’s death.

They along with Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, visited a new garden dedicated to Princess Diana at Kensington Palace.

Diana, just 36 years old, and her boyfriend were trying to escape paparazzi, when their intoxicated driver crashed the vehicle after a high-speed chase in Paris. Paris’ Mayor Anne Hidalgo returned to the site and sent a message on Twitter.

Known as the People’s Princess, Diana was beloved in the UK, around the world and even here in the U.S. for her charitable work. She was not the traditional member of the royal family, often very hands on with her sons.

Some may remember when she visited Disney World with William and Harry in 1993.

It was just last year that Prince Harry returned to Orlando, hosting the Invictus games, a sporting event for injured military members and veterans.
