An SPCA of Brevard team will go to Texas on Friday with donations of pet supplies and cleaning supplies, and come back with cats and dogs.

They're not the only rescue or shelter to do it either.

Thousands of animals across southeast Texas have been displaced by flooding and damage from Harvey. That means shelters there are flooded with animals that need help, and out-of-state groups are trying to bring relief.

The SPCA of Brevard will be taking supplies to the Alvin County Animal Shelter and pulling at least 12 dogs and some cats to bring back.

The shelter is collecting donations to take to Texas, including pet food, leashes, collars, bottled water, blankets, towels and treats. If you want to donate, drop off the supplies at the shelter on 6035 Sisson Road in Titusville before Friday morning.

Meanwhile, SPCA of Brevard will also need supplies to help care for these animals. You can check out the group's wish list on the SPCA of Brevard website, or on Amazon.

Southeast Volusia Humane Society in New Smyrna Beach took in 30 dogs, some from Texas and others from New Orleans.

By taking the dogs, displaced pets can be transferred from Texas to New Orleans.

Four of those dogs are still available for adoption.

The group is transporting a second load of pets Friday from Texas, including dozens of cats.

Rescues are taking in some animals, but others will need a home.

Southeast Volusia Humane Society also has put out an urgent request for small crates, Purina ONE cat food and non-clumping cat litter.

You can find a complete wish list via Amazon. You can also donate money via the Southeast Volusia Humane Society website.

Merritt Island animal hospital leads supply drive

A Brevard County animal hospital is doing what they can to help Harvey victims get reunited with their lost pets.

And now there's a place where you can drop off supplies to be sent to Texas.

"I brought quilts, pillows and a bag of clothes," said Patty Caputo of Cocoa Beach.

But it's the four legged friends she really hopes to help.

"It's unbelievable. I can't believe what's going on there," she said.

It's not just people being saved, it's their lost pets too.

Countless ones are lost, then found in the flooding Harvey left behind.

Courtenay Animal Hospital in Merritt Island has jumped in with all paws to help.

They are partnering with Austin Pets Alive, an animal shelter that has already taken in hundreds of pets.

And they are expecting more than 2,000 in their care very soon.

"Our four legged friends, they can sometimes get overlooked because of the families," said Tony Liquori, who owns a Merritt Island storage unit facility.

He heard about the collection, and just so happened to have one available unit to put donated items.

"We are collecting everything from bedding, to food, to everything that would be needed," said Liquori. "We are going to fill it up."

Courtenay Animal Hospital, Ohana Pet Resort, Tails At The Barkery and First Class Storage are drop-off points for donations.

Also Camping World in Cocoa is delivering the supplies on an 18-wheeler Monday afternoon.

So there is still time to donate.
