Jevauno Teejay Collins, 24, of Ocala, is charged with robbery with a firearm and resisting a law enforcement officer without violence. He was booked into the Marion County Jail on $51,000 bond.

The incident began Aug. 19 when a USPS worker was attempting to deliver a package to a home located at 11 Spring Lane Way. When there was no answer at the door, the worker left the house and continued on her route, deputies said.

While she was delivering mail at another house, a red car drove in front of her and partially blocked her path.

Deputies said a black male exited the vehicle the vehicle and "politely asked her for the package."

The man wasn't able to provide the USPS worker with any identification showing he was the person the package was addressed to. The man then offered the worker $500 for the package, which she declined. The postal service worker again asked the man for ID for the package.

"As she attempted to drive away, the suspect pointed a gun at the victim, stating: 'You really need to give me that package.  If you put your foot on the gas, I'm going to shoot you,'" a release states.

The victim told deputies she was in fear for her life and gave the man the package and then immediately called law enforcement.

No injuries were reported during the incident.

Detectives were told by the USPS that a "Jevauno Collins" had recently received mail at the same address the package was supposed to be delivered to. Collins also matched the physical description of the suspect that the victim provided on the day of the incident.

The contents of the package in question remain unclear, deputies said.
