In the wake of Harvey's devastation in Texas, volunteers from across the country and here in Central Florida are doing what they can to help.

Volunteers from the Salvation Army in Orlando hit the road Tuesday to lend a helping hand.

Bill Sweet is one of those people. He's been volunteering to head into the heart of trouble since 2008. He's seen the aftermath of hurricanes, tornadoes and even helped out feeding people after the Pulse nightclub shooting.

He did all this with a partially paralyzed arm, the result of an accident earlier in life.

He says he's proud to be able to do what he can to help feed thousands in need.

"I get such a good feeling when I see these people," Sweet said Tuesday. "They come in and they're downtrodden. They haven't got a friend in the world. As you're talking to them and feeding them, you take a minute and let them know that God is still with them, and they walk away and look forward to the next day," he said.

Sweet said his team will first drive to Pensacola, then after a short rest, take off for Texas. They'll get their final assignment when they arrive in the Lone Star state, then will be there for two weeks before another crew arrives to replace them.
