Students participating in the SPARC Day of Service were able to help with service projects throughout Central Florida.

“We want our students to understand that when they come to Rollins College they are immersed in the CF economy and culture we want them to know that not just by studying it but also by contributing to it,” Rollins College president Grant Cornwell said.

Five hundred students were at locations across Central Florida. One service project was helping at the Wells' Built Museum of African American History and Culture.

Students helped to clean up the and repaint the building and also sort through artifacts.

“It's really cool that we came here specifically because our RCC is Black Lives Matter, so it’s teaching us the history behind that class,” freshman Alexa Baires said.

“Right now, when I’m just starting college it is stressful, but just being able to paint and do something for a good cause is very therapeutic,” freshman Amy Roher said.

Rollins College now has 25 different locations they send students to each year.

Since SPARC Day of Service started, more than 7,000 students and staff have contributed over 30,000 hours of community service.
