  • Truck's bed struck side of CR 514 in Sumter County
  • NB lanes of I-75 closed for nearly 13 hours

The crash happened just after 4 a.m. on I-75 at the County Road 514 overpass in Sumter County.

The northbound lanes reopened to traffic at about 4:45 p.m., the Florida Highway Patrol said.

According to troopers, the 2007 Mack 700 dump truck was northbound in the center lane with the dump bed raised when it struck the overpass.

Road inspectors also closed C.R. 514 for a while to assess the structural integrity of both roadways.

The driver of the dump truck, Robert Givens, 60 of Wildwood was airlifted to Ocala Regional Medical Center in serious condition, troopers said.
