A 22-year-old man who had parked his car to safely view the solar eclipse with a welder's mask got another eye-opener Monday: an arrest.

  • Jocsan Feliciano Rosado arrested while gazing at solar eclipse
  • Deputies say they were pursuing him on suspicion of stolen vehicle
  • He bought welder's mask, had stopped to view eclipse when arrested

Jocsan Feliciano Rosado is accused of stealing a car — the one he was standing next to when he was looking at the eclipse — according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

Rosado drove to Kissimmee's Harbor Freight Tools to buy a welder's mask to view the solar eclipse, deputies said. While he was standing in the parking lot next to the car, Rosado put on the mask and looked up to gaze at the celestial treat, according to deputies.

That's when deputies from the Sheriff's Office's auto theft unit "swooped in" and arrested him, the agency said on Facebook.

"He never saw it coming," they said.
