A man driving a moped was killed on Aug. 22 when he was struck and pinned underneath another vehicle, according to Casselberry Police.

  • George Hughes, 35, died at Winter Park Hospital
  • No reckless driving or impairment suspected
  • Investigation ongoing, but no charges expected

Investigators said George Hughes, 35, was driving his moped south on Lake Howell Road crossing Tuscarora Trail while the other vehicle was driving in the opposite direction. The second vehicle turned left onto Tuscarora, which resulted in the collision.

Hughes was transported by first responders to Winter Park Hospital, where he later died.

The investigation shut down Lake Howell Road for several hours, but it was re-opened by 8 p.m.

Investigators have thus far found no indication of reckless driving or impairment. The investigation is ongoing, but no charges are expected to be filed.
