Some Winter Garden residents say the construction needed to improve the area isn't happening fast enough.

In fact, Christina Muller said she got excited a few months ago when she saw road work to add two right turn lanes on County Road 535 turning onto Stoneybrook West Parkway to get onto northbound State Road 429.

"However, construction seems completely stalled and with school starting back up again, traffic is getting worse. Any news on when these relief lanes will open?"

We started looking for answers by visiting the area, and no doubt about it, C.R. 535 and Stoneybrook Parkway in Winter Garden is a busy, growing area. It's not just busy during peak times: Congestion can be seen here all day long.

What should add relief to the area is the addition of two right lanes in both directions headed toward northbound S.R. 429.

Instead, residents have claimed the construction has stalled, making conditions worse.

It should be pointed out that although the lanes are not yet open, we did notice construction crews working on the northbound lanes of S.R. 535 at S.R. 429.

So, what exactly is the status of the area? The City of Winter Garden says everything is on schedule.

The city manager said 90 percent of the work should be completed by the end of October, and the new lanes should be fully operational by Black Friday following this upcoming Thanksgiving.

In addition to this project, crews are continuing to repave Stoneybrook West Parkway so the work will continue in that area as well.

Thanks for your submission, Christina!
