Partly sunny skies and not much rain for our Monday. Temperatures were able to climb quickly into the 90s early in the day.

During the peak eclipse at 2:51pm, temperatures in spots fell up to around 5 degrees. Low rain chances will stick around for a couple more days, but then really pick back up by Thursday and heading into the weekend.

Temperatures will remain hot, but back off slightly as rain chances increase. High humidity sticks around.

Mostly clear skies are in the forecast through the overnight hours. Temperatures will be warm and muggy, falling into the mid to upper 70s.

Tuesday will start out mostly sunny, but a few clouds will move in for the afternoon. There is only a slight chance for a shower or storm as temperatures heat back into the mid to low 90s. Humidity will remain high, making it feel much hotter.

Wednesday will be similar with hot temperatures and only a slight chance for rain. We will start to see rain chances picking up by Thursday and right on into the weekend. The better chance for rain will help to drop high temperatures to around 90 degrees.

The deep moisture that will increase our rain chance is due to a tropical wave over the Bahamas and drifting in our direction. We’ll have to watch this wave for the potential of tropical formation nearby this weekend. At this point, it has a medium chance for gaining tropical characteristics.

Regardless, there is a high likelihood for rain this weekend. Meanwhile, the remnant low of Harvey continues to struggle near the Yucatan Peninsula. Once it moves into the Bay of Campeche by Wednesday, some redevelopment is possible.

If heading to the coast Tuesday, a decent ESE trade swell will allow for better surfing conditions, although you’ll need to watch for an elevated rip current threat.
