Some light rain persisted across the area this evening, but quiet conditions are expected for the remainder of the overnight.

A few clouds will remain in place with warm overnight lows in the mid to upper 70s.

Lower rain chances are still expected for eclipse viewing on Monday. We will see a blend of sun and clouds develop, with scattered showers and storms in the PM hours.

We’re still optimistic that a good deal of Central Florida will see at least the start of the eclipse – however viewing will likely become more and more difficult later in the afternoon. Highs for Monday will be in the low 90s.

Boaters should expect fair conditions with southeast winds of 5-10 knots and seas 2-3 feet. Thunderstorms will likely in the PM hours. Surfers will see poor to fair conditions and an east-southeast trade swell.

A moderate rip current threat will again be in place for the Atlantic waters on Monday.

The lower rain chances will continue Tuesday, with just a 30 percent of activity in the PM hours. Highs for Tuesday will be in the low 90s.

Rain and storm chance will increase dramatically as deep tropical moisture pushes into Florida by midweek. The increased moisture will persist for the remainder of the work week, with a good chance of showers and storms each day.

Some drier air may attempt to work for next weekend.

TROPICS:

In the tropics, we continue to watch three areas of interest. The remnants of Tropical Depression Harvey in the Caribbean Sea has strengthened, but lacks a defined center. This system could redevelop back into a tropical storm as it nears the Central American coastline. It has a high chance of development in the next five days.

Elsewhere, a second system north of Puerto Rico continues to push toward the Bahamas. This system may attempt to organize and now has a medium chance of development. The complex will need to be watched as it will be near Florida by the middle of the work week.

A third system is in the open waters of the Atlantic and will likely dissipate in the next couple of days.
