Palm Bay youngster Sebastian Spivey, who is wild about science, has two reasons to be excited about Monday.

Not only is it Eclipse Day, it's also his birthday.

"It will be a black sun with yellow parts around it," 8-year-old Sebastian said.

You can normally find Sebastian outside using his telescope or scanning science videos online. He loves to study stars, planets and the universe.

Sebastian also has Asperger's syndrome and is a wealth of space knowledge.

But come Monday, his eyes — covered with protective glasses — will be on the sky as the rare solar eclipse across the U.S. takes place while he turns 9.

"This is his day, that's for sure!" mom Brenda Spivey said.

Sebastian, like many Brevard County students, will have an excused absence from school Monday. But, he'll also get to enjoy the celestial show with some eclipse-themed birthday gifts and cake.
