Showers and storms Wednesday afternoon were on the stronger side producing torrential downpours, frequent lightning, and gusty winds, and a waterspout in Brevard County.

Dozens of viewers have sent in pictures and video of the waterspout, as seen from Merritt Island, Cocoa, Titusville and Cape Canaveral.

We will continue to have a fairly quiet overnight with lows in the middle 70s. We will see a few more showers and storms for Thursday with a 70 percent chance of seeing them by the afternoon and early evening. The highs will stay in the mid 90s.

We will see a chance for those showers and storms through the end of the work and school week during the afternoons and early evenings. The highs will remain in the low to mid 90s.

The tropics are heated! Hurricane Gert is well off to the northeast and making its way back into cooler waters which will help rapidly weaken the storm by the weekend.

We are watching 3 other waves in the west central Atlantic basin that all have a medium chance for further tropical development as they continue to track off to the west-northwest. Tune in at every :51 past the hour for the latest updates.

Boating conditions will be favorable tomorrow with seas at 1-2 feet and a light chop on the intracoastal. Isolated storms could pose a hazard for the afternoon. Water temps will be in the low 80s along the coast.

If you plan on taking the board out, conditions will be poor to fair with 1-2 feet wave heights and a moderate risk for rip currents! Remember to stay near a lifeguard and don't forget that sunscreen with the elevated UV indices!
