Authorities said the woman was visiting an inmate when she crashed into the gate, a fence and a metal barrier.
It happened about 15 minutes before noon Saturday.
A witness said she was standing in line to visit an inmate at the facility when a car came speeding at the gate, crashing and sending debris everywhere.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers say 50-year-old Janice Porter started to experience a possible medical event, which caused her to accelerate and hit the right side of the gate, knock over a metal crash barrier and also hit the fence line.
Troopers say Porter is charged with driving while license suspended and no proof of insurance.
