An 18-year-old man was arrested and charged Saturday morning after police said he attempted to rob a Dunkin Donuts and fired shots at an employee.

Robby Whittaker, 18, is charged with attempted homicide, robbery with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, carrrying a concealed firearm, and use of a firearm during a felony. 

The Apopka Police Department responded to the Dunkin Donuts located at 212 E. Main Street around 5 a.m. Saturday in response to an armed robbery, shots fired call. 

An employee told police that as she arrived to work she was approached by a male holding a handgun. 

The man told her to say nothing, but she began to scream, police said. 

The man fired three shots toward the employee, striking the building, and then fled on foot. 

A second employee inside the building called 911. 

Police said no one was injured during the incident. 

Whittaker has been transported to the Orange County jail.
