The body of a missing Lake Fairview canoer was found early Friday morning, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

Rescuers found the body 41-year-old Terrance Oliver Johnson at about 2 a.m., deputies said.

Rescuers searched Lake Fairview in Orange County on Thursday afternoon for Johnson after he was reported missing overnight.

"We're in recovery mode," Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Deputy Ingrid Tejada-Monforte said.

Witnesses told deputies they heard a man yelling for help at about 2 a.m. on the lake near Edgewater Drive.

Sky 13, which was flying over the area, spotted a capsized canoe and a man floating in the water.

The rescued man said told deputies he and another man, Johnson, were "hanging out in the lake," Tejada-Monforte said, when their canoe tipped.

They both tried to swim to shore, but only one made it.
