Here's the Central Florida weather forecast for Thursday evening and the upcoming weekend:

  • Feels-like temperatures will be over 100 degrees
  • Inland areas may see hit-and-miss showers, storms
  • TROPICS: We're keeping an eye on some unsettled weather
  • SEE BELOW: See our 7-day forecast ▼

Scattered showers continue to impact parts of the east coast as an upper level spins in the Atlantic. These showers will also remain possible overnight and could potentially impact the morning commute along the coastline. Morning lows will be in the mid to upper 70s.

Better rain and storm chances are on the way to close the work week. We’ll see partly sunny skies for much of the day with scattered showers and storms developing. The best chance for activity will be along the I-95 corridor. Highs for Friday will be back in the low 90s.

Elevated rain chances continue for Saturday, with a blend of sun and clouds expected. Highs for Saturday will be in the low to mid 90s.

Some slightly drier works in for Sunday, which will reduce some coverage of the PM storms. Many locations will still be a shower or storm with highs in the low 90s.

No major changes are expected for next week, with AM sunshine and PM storms. Highs next week will likely hold in the low to mid 90s.

In the tropics, Tropical Storm Franklin faded away Thursday morning. The system is quickly pushing into the mountains of Central Mexico.

Elsewhere, the system along the east coast of Florida has a low chance of development. It will move northward away from the area.

We continue to watch a third system north of Puerto Rico. The complex continues to move northwestward and could develop further. It has a medium chance of development over the next 5 days. If it becomes a named storm, it’s name would be "Gert."

Boaters will find favorable conditions in the morning, with storms developing in the afternoon and early evening. Seas will be 2-3 feet. The rip current threat is again moderate.

Surfers in the Atlantic should expect poor conditions Friday with an east-southeast trade swell.
