Dozens of dogs and puppies from a Polk County kill shelter are now at a no-kill shelter in Brevard County and soon will be up for adoption.

Seven mother dogs and 53 puppies were brought in several vehicles to the SPCA of Brevard facility in Titusville on Wednesday morning after the Polk Sheriff's Office rescued the animals from a hoarding situation.
Polk shelter workers got in touch, and within just a few hours, the group agreed to take them in. The puppies range in age from 1 to 3 weeks old. It's the largest number of dogs the SPCA of Brevard has taken in at one time.
"We love what we do, and we love that the public is willing to help, because we can't do it without them," said Veronica LaVista with SPCA of Brevard.
The group has some foster families lined up to care for the dogs, but they need more until the puppies can be adopted.
