A man accused of stalking, kidnapping and holding his ex-girlfriend at gunpoint has turned himself in on Monday night, according to Volusia County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday.

  • Jason Jurado is facing a variety of charges, including aggravated stalking

Jason Jurado is facing charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated stalking, armed burglary, tampering with a witness, grand theft, kidnap and inflict bodily harm and other charges after he was accusing of stalking his ex-girlfriend, deputies stated.

On Monday, July 17, the ex-girlfriend found Jurado, 19, in the backseat of her vehicle after she just dropped off her children at a babysitter in DeLand, according to deputies in a press release.

Jurado is said to have moved into the front seat of the vehicle and as he was displaying his gun to his ex-girlfriend, he started loading it in front of her, deputies described.

After telling her to drive, Jurado took her phone, but when she tried to stop him, he hit her hand with the gun, according to deputies, who continued that she eventually stopped at a parking lot and started to honk her horn for help.

When a passerby looked into the car, Jurado took off on foot and the ex-girlfriend drove off and flagged down the first police officer she saw, deputies explained.

A few days earlier, on Saturday, July 15, Jurado is accused of breaking down the ex-girlfriend's door and forcing his way in before running off, according to deputies.

Jurado will have his first appearance with a judge on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Volusia County Jail.
