Here's the forecast for the rest of the night and into the weekend:

Storms started early on Friday, with some becoming strong with gusty wind, excessive lightning, torrential rain, and small hail. With the rain and cloud around, temperatures were not quite as hot. Most made it into the upper 80s to around 90 degrees.

Another round of sea breeze storms and boundary collisions are expected this weekend.

Plentiful moisture will lead to torrential rain in any storms that do develop, and we’ll also run the risk of significant lightning, gusty wind and small hail. As has been the case all week, storms end before 8 p.m. with lingering light rain wrapping up before 10 p.m each night.

Before storms get rolling, we’ll start Saturday and Sunday with a mix of clouds and sun, and will begin heating up quickly into the lower 90s for highs. Combined with moisture, our feels like temps are set to push 100 into early next week. On a different note, all is fairly tranquil in the tropics, with no development expected.

Overall poor conditions for area surfers both Saturday and Sunday, as we have a slightly bigger east-southeast trade swell and wave heights only one to two feet.

The rip current threat will vary between low and moderate, so keep an eye on flags flying above life guard stands. Sea surface temps remain steady in the upper 70s to lower 80s along our east coast.
