Crews are cleaning up the damage left behind from Wednesday night's fast-moving storms, which brought strong winds, rain and severe warnings.

Cocoa Village, near 520 and Highway 1, saw most of the damage Wednesday night, with several reports of cars stuck in ankle deep water and a power pole came crashing down.

A home that is under construction had its roof collapsed due to the storm. Contractors working on a differnt job nearby heard the loud bang, but no one was injured.

In Merritt Island, lightning hit a home on Canal Court and Brevard County Fire Rescue says the attic caught on fire.

No one was hurt, but crews say the two people who were living there had to find a new place to stay.

"(It) could have been catastrophic. (It) really it would have killed somebody for sure, but fortunately nobody was there in that area and so everything is good," said contractor Kevin Barfield.
