Jon North, 32, of Minneola was arrested Wednesday and charged with five counts of unlawful sexual activity with minors.

According to a Lake County Sheriff's Office arrest affidavit, the school's principal interviewed the juvenile male student, who told her he had a sexual relationship with North from November or December 2015 to May 2016. The principal then interviewed North, who she said admitted to the relationship and resigned.

The boy told a Special Victims Unit investigator that the relationship began with a "benign" texting relationship that escalated into a physical relationship. He said the encounters happened in the corner of the band room closet.

When interviewed by detectives, they said North admitted to a "prior sexual 'situation' with another former student, but only after he turned 18."

North was hired by the Lake Schools in 2008 as a music teacher at East Ridge High School. He transferred to Lake Minneola in 2011. He had had no prior disciplinary issues, a district spokeswoman said, who added that it's cooperating with the investigation.
