An Osceola County Sheriff’s deputy is facing charges after he has been accused of slamming a woman's head against a wall, according to officials.

Deputy Richard Ortiz was charged with battery domestic violence.

A three-page arrest report reveals why investigators believe they have probable cause to charge him.

One male witness and the woman spoke with police officers about the alleged incident, according to the report.

The witness told investigators he saw Ortiz drag the woman outside of his car shortly after 3 a.m., Sunday, the report stated. It went on further and described that the deputy grabbed a chair, slamming it to the floor and then pushing the victim before hitting her head.

However, the woman said the argument was only verbal, but detectives did find minor injuries on her arms, according to the report.

He was taken into custody and booked at the Osceola County jail, however employees at the jail have not stated when Ortiz will be making a court appearance on Wednesday.

News 13 was told that Sheriff Russell Gibson will likely make a statement sometime Wednesday.
