  • Boy was transported to Arnold Palmer hospital in Orlando
  • Motorist was following rules, won't face charges, officials say

The boy was riding a boogie board and rode a wave in close to traffic, according to Beach Safety. The child went under the right-side tires of a Dodge pickup driven by a 19-year-old Sanford man and the truck ran over the boy's midsection.

Witnesses told Beach Safety that the Sanford man was driving slowly within the speed limit inside the traffic lane at the time.

The boy was conscious and crying when taken to Halifax Medical Center. He was later transported to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando.

The truck's driver is not currently facing charges.

The incident comes days after a man died after being pulled out of the water at Ormond Beach. Rescuers pulled the unidentified man from the water Thursday and performed CPR, but he was pronounced dead at a hospital.
