Two people were injured Saturday morning after a semi truck overturned and caused a large piece of metal to fall onto a vehicle.

The incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. in Orange County.

Troopers said a semi truck hauling scrap metal was traveling westbound on the SR 528 exit ramp to westbound I-4 when the driver, Antonio Wharton, 33, lost control of the truck and struck a guardrail and overturned.

As the semi truck overturned, a large piece of metal fell off of the overpass and onto the exit ramp below, where a van was traveling. The metal fell directly on top of the van, crushing in the roof.

Luckily, the driver of the van, Jesus Escobar, 36, only received minor injures.

Wharton also received minor injuries and was ticketed for careless driving.
