Among the new laws going into effect July 1 are transportation regulations for ride sharing companies.

  • Sanford International Airport, where ride share drivers can now officially pick up passengers
  • For the first month, Uber and Lyft drivers will be able to pick up passengers for free

Those regulations for "transportation network companies" such as Uber and Lyft, include insurance and background-check requirements that are less stringent than those sought by local governments.

The new rules will benefit passengers at Sanford International Airport, where ride share drivers can now officially pick up.

Transportation companies will be allowed to pick-up at Sanford International Airport without permitting or licensing. The airport has put strict guidelines in place to protect passengers and has set aside a convenient parking area for drivers waiting for passengers.

In addition, for the first month, Uber and Lyft drivers will be able to pick up passengers for free.

A third party collection system will not be in place until August.

After that time, it will cost $1.00 per pick-up.

Ride share drivers can also official pick up from the Orlando International Airport.

Two designated pick-up locations are on the second level of both the A and B sides of the Main Terminal.

Orlando International is charging a $5.80 pick-up fee. There's no fee for passenger drop-off.
