A father and mother are accused of abusing their 4-month-old infant, according to the Osceola County Sheriff's Office.

  • David Alan Rich, Ashley Ann Montrony are facing child-abuse charges, deputies say
  • Their child is with Dept. of Children and Families

The baby's father, David Alan Rich, is charged with aggravated child abuse, while mother Ashley Ann Montrony is charged with two counts of child neglect with great bodily harm for failing to provide care and failing to keep the baby safe while knowing the child was being abused, according to deputies.

On Friday, June 2, deputies were alerted to a possible case of child abuse when the infant was being treated at a hospital for "non-accidental" bruising to the face and leg fractures, authorities stated.

The 32-year-old Rich admitted that he battered the baby because the infant was crying, deputies stated.

Both Rich and Montrony, 30, have been booked at the Osceola County Jail and the infant has been placed with the Department of Children and Families, according to deputies.
