After weather caused SpaceX to scrub a Falcon 9 rocket launch on Thursday, the space company successfully launched the rocket from Kennedy Space Center on Saturday.

With it, a refurbished Dragon cargo capsule (last used in September 2014) as part of a resupply mission to the International Space Station. This marked a first for SpaceX.

The capsule is carrying 6,000 pounds of supplies and scientific experiments for astronauts aboard the space station.

The Falcon 9's first stage also successfully landed at nearby Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.

“The Falcon has landed,” said SpaceX Mission Control from company headquarters in Hawthorne, California.

SpaceX plans to launch the booster again. Two months ago, the company launched its first used booster on a satellite mission.

This is the 11th resupply mission to the space station by SpaceX under its agreement with NASA.

SpaceX wants to reuse rockets (and capsules) in order to reduce the overall costs of spaceflight.
