Months after Hurricane Matthew damaged Flagler Beach Fishing Pier many loved ones still have not found their personalized planks that were destroyed during the storm. A local woman who found some of them is hoping to find the owners.

It is like trying to solve a puzzle with missing pieces for Linda Jones, who has part of a name and a few words engraved on the pier planks.

"There's no names on them, so the last three I have, have been real difficult," said Jones.

The three planks have been in Jones' garage for nearly nine months. She had some luck finding owners of other planks via Facebook.

When Hurricane Matthew took nearly 200 feet of the pier, many family and friend's memorial planks also disappeared.

"It warms my heart because the connection is gone and then you could have it back and a lot of these boards have been out here for years and years, so families and people are used to seeing them and reading and visiting them," said Jones.

She said her own family member's plank also disappeared during the storm.

"For years and years I walked out here to bring my children out here to go fishing when I had a family member that left us way too early, she used to fish out here I thought it was a great way to remember her," said Jones.

The pier opened back up Saturday with the repairs finished, but some of the planks could not be replaced.

Where Jones' loved one's plank ended up is still a mystery, but now she hopes to help someone else.

"It's very important for me to get them back to them, the ties that they have to the boards are so important to so many of the people," said Jones.

If you believe the planks belong to you or someone you may know, Jones has set up a Facebook page so you can check out the pictures and message her directly.
