  • 2 passengers on bus were scraped, cut
  • Randy Griffin charged with drug possession, throwing deadly missile

Randy Griffin, 53, of Leesburg has been charged with throwing a deadly missile at or into an occupied vehicle, criminal mischief and drug possession.

According to an arrest affidavit, someone threw a large piece of concrete block through a rear passenger side of the Lynx bus Monday morning. The driver pulled over on West Anderson Street near Lee Court to investigate and found the piece of cinder block and shattered glass on the floor of the bus, police said.

Two passengers were seated in the rear of the bus. A woman said the concrete scraped her leg, and a man said the rock nearly hit him in the head. He also said his right hand was injured, either from the rock or glass. They refused further treatment.

A female witness told responding Orlando Police officers that a man wearing no shirt and blue shorts was responsible for throwing the rock through the window, police said. A man fitting the description provided by the witness was seen in the middle of the intersection of West Anderson and Jernigan Avenue.

The man, later identified as Griffin, was mad and screaming about being the victim of a shooting a day earlier. He also admitted to throwing the rock and said he bought a kilo of cocaine, police said. "Randy continued to yell and flail his body while he was secured as he sat along the curb of the road. ... Randy previously stated he had been taking cocaine," the affidavit said.

Police found drug paraphernalia on Griffin, they said. He was booked into the Orange County Jail.
