A 25-year-old man was killed in a wrong-way crash on SR 44 early Sunday morning, according to FHP.

The accident occurred around 2:35 a.m. Sunday at SR 44 and Pioneer Trail in Volusia County. 

According to the FHP report, a Ford pickup was traveling west in the eastbound lanes of SR 44 and struck a Mitsubishi head-on. 

The driver of the Mitsubishi, Juan Guntin, 25, died from his injuries sustained in the crash. 

The driver of the Ford pickup is in critical condition and has not been identified yet. 

It is unknown if the accident was alcohol related, troopers said. 

The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending, according to the report.
