A Palm Coast teenager has been caught on Saturday afternoon when he tried to outrun authorities, who say he shot another teen and drove off in a car, stated the Flagler County Sheriff's Office.

  • Levi Evan Ovenshire fled scene after shooting teenager, deputies say
  • Shooting incident currently under investigation

Around 1:15 p.m., Flagler County Sheriff Deputies responded to a call where a 19-year-old man suffered from gunshot wounds to the abdomen on his garage floor.

Responding units learned that Levi Evan Ovenshire, 19, fled the scene of the shooting and was later located at Town Center Boulevard, deputies stated.

Deputies attempted to halt Ovenshire with stop sticks and a tire deflation device, but he was able to evade them. At one point during the chase, deputies stated that Ovenshire was throwing things out of the car.

However, while attempting to once again avoid the stop sticks, Ovenshire crashed the car into a wood line.

The man who was found in the garage was airlifted to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach with life-threatening injures.

After receiving medical clearance, Ovenshire was taken into custody and transported to Flagler County Detention Facility.

He was charged with aggravated fleeing and eluding and the shooting remains under investigation.
