A teenager who ran from law enforcement officers early Friday morning and jumped into Lake Sherwood had his body found on Saturday afternoon, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

After 14 hours of searching, the sheriff's office's marine unit was able to find Clarance Lake III in Lake Sherwood at around 3:04 p.m., Saturday, officials stated.

Deputies stated that the 18-year-old Lake ran from them on Friday, at around 1:50 a.m., as the authorities were investigating a car burglary at the Hawthorne Groves Apartment complex on Hawthorne Groves Boulevard.

Lake ran into a shed at a nearby Lowe’s home-improvement store, then jumped a fence and went into Lake Sherwood off State Road 50 near Good Homes Road, deputies stated. A law enforcement helicopter spotted him in distress, but was not been able to find him.

Authorities found a backpack in the shed, which contained property from a vehicle in the complex.

Two other males, 17 and 18 years old, were stopped and questioned and eventually charged with burglary to a vehicle.
