It's the first time the Clermont Police Department is spearheading a clean up in the Lincoln Park area.

Officers, city workers and volunteers started Friday morning at the Disston Avenue Apartment complex, the same complex where 30-year-old Ronald Stedelin was shot and killed on June 11.

Stedelin's death marked the city's first murder of the year.

On Thursday, police were at the Disston Avenue Apartment complex to serve a search warrant in a sexual battery case.

"I grew up here and this is the worst crime I've ever seen. I was very disappointed with what happened in the last 2-3 months," said Robin Brown, who owns some homes in the area. "We don’t want it to go there, so what we’re doing is we're trying to stop it."

"We get back like we used to be, more love and more helping each other in the community, because we can't allow this," she said.

Clermont Police say they will work with the owners of the apartment complex to put in fencing and other beautification projects.

Clermont police are still seeking two persons of interest in connection with Stedelin's death on June 11. If you have any information, call Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS (8477).
